When Jefferson Lerma’s deal with Bournemouth expires at the end of the current campaign, Leeds United reportedly want to sign him.

The club is considering adding the Colombian midfielder to its wishlist to bolster the squad during the summer transfer window after he scored twice in a recent 4-1 victory over Leeds at Elland Road.

His current contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and a number of clubs around Europe have expressed interest in signing him up, with offers having already been made.

His personal Twitter account read, “Jefferson Lerma, proper market name,” on May 8.

The Colombian’s contract expires in June, despite his excellent season. Although there are several bids on the table, Bournemouth wants to extend his contract.

Teams from Italy, England, and Spain were highly attentive. Aston Villa, West Ham, Leeds, and Newcastle are a few of them.

Quality

Marc Roca’s first full season in the Premier League has been difficult for him to adjust to, while Tyler Adams’ struggles with injuries in the second half of the season have caused severe problems for Leeds’ midfield.

Weston McKennie’s future at the club is far from guaranteed, but he hasn’t exactly lived up to his reputation either, and the pitch could use some support in that department.

Lerma is unlikely to decide to join us anytime soon given how uncertain our Premier League position is; nevertheless, if we can avoid being relegated, he would be a wise addition.

At 28, he is in the prime of his career and has lots of experience playing in the top division, both of which would improve the squad’s quality and depth.

There will be a lot of competition, and it will be challenging to win, but if we remain in the league, anything is possible.
