Ryan Mason is busy preparing for the final home game of the season this weekend, and has revealed to the press what he wants his team to give the Tottenham Hotspur supporters.

Theoretically, Ryan Mason has just two more games as Acting Head Coach at Tottenham, as a new permanent manager is set to be appointed at the end of the season.

It’s been a frustrating campaign for Tottenham, with disappointing results and performances on the pitch leaving the club at risk of missing out on European qualification.

Things behind the scenes have not been any better. Antonio Conte left his post as manager at the end of March, and his assistant, Cristian Stellini, was sacked after just four games as interim manager.

All of this has led to mass fan unrest throughout the campaign, and protests have been held against the current ownership.

Mason’s main task as Acting Head Coach then, has been to instil a sense of unity among the fans, the players, and the club in general.

In his latest press conference ahead of the final home game of the season against Brentford tomorrow, Mason revealed what he hopes the players can bring to the game.

He told Football.London: “It’s important that they see and feel a team that’s trying to transfer energy to them.

“That is probably one of the most important messages we’ve been trying to give to the players this week.

“We want energy, we want to feel that energy inside the stadium because our fans have been fantastic this season.

“They’ve stuck with us and have been with us the whole time. Yeah, we want to give them something to feel good about.”

He added: “The most important thing is to get results, that’s what we’re working for. At the same time, I’d like to start seeing what we believe our team should look like.

“It’s been such a short space of time but we believe and trust in the work we’re doing. In the next two games, inside the players can feel that change and if it can transfer to the outside I think it would be an added bonus but the most important thing, of course, is getting the results.”

In terms of Mason’s mission to bring a sense of togetherness to the club and appease the fans, I do think he has started to do that to a degree already.

The results have not been ideal, but at least we have seen the players showing some passion and desire on the pitch.

Hopefully, the game against Brentford can be a nice end to a tough season and we can get the result and performance we want from the team.
