West Ham are keen to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Piero Hincapie in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Ham manager David Moyes wants to bring Piero Hincapie to the London Stadium this summer.

Moyes is clearly keen to bolster his central defensive ranks in East London, with Wolves ace Max Kilman also on the Scot’s radar.

Craig Dawson joined Wolves in January, whilst there are longstanding concerns about Kurt Zouma’s fitness. Meanwhile, Angelo Ogbonna turns 35 tomorrow.

Moyes could definitely do with bringing in some real top-quality, young talent into the club to help strengthen his centre-back department.

And it seems as though the Scot has someone very special indeed on his agenda…

West Ham eyeing exciting Piero Hincapie swoop

The Mail reckon that the Bayer Leverkusen defender is firmly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

What an unbelievable signing Piero Hincapie would be for West Ham – the 21-year-old really is very special indeed.

The wonderkid has been dubbed as South America’s best young defender (Goal), and it’s easy to see why.

The young centre-back, who can also operate as a left-back, has already earned 26 international caps for his country Ecuador.

He has played a key role for Leverkusen this season as well.

In 30 Bundesliga outings this season, Hincapie has averaged 1.7 tackles, one interception, 2.5 clearances and two successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

During those appearances, the Ecuadorian has made 55.7 passes on average per match and has recorded a completion rate of 83.2% (Who Scored).

Piero Hincapie has pace and power in abundance, and would be a tremendous addition to Moyes’s ranks at West Ham.

There is a big problem though – Leverkusen reportedly value the 21-year-old at around £50 million (Football Insider). It’s highly unlikely that the Hammers will be laying out that kind of cash for a new centre-back this summer, so I think Moyes may have to be slightly less ambitious when it comes to signing a central defender.
