Ally McCoist thinks Tottenham Hotspur should appoint ex-Leicester City and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers as their next manager, not Arne Slot.
It’s been suggested that Feyenoord coach Arne Slot is Tottenham’s ‘top target’ to replace Antonio Conte, but McCoist would like to see the ‘really talented’ Brendan Rodgers handed the keys instead, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (23/05/23).

If you ask Leicester City fans what they think of Rodgers, then you might get some strong responses and all of them not so pleasant.

The simple reason is that the Foxes are on the verge of suffering relegation to the Championship on Sunday, even if they win their final game of the season against West Ham United.

Rodgers, prior to his sacking in April, has played a big part in the club’s demise, but despite that, McCoist wants to see the Northern Irishman given the Tottenham gig.

“I would like to see someone like Brendan Rodgers,” said McCoist. “I know the Leicester fans will have something else to say, but I think the biggest problem they had under Brendan was that the recruitment wasn’t good enough when they lost players.

“I think he is a really talented coach. Then you look at Spurs. They have had really talented coaches. Conte and Mourinho.”

SLOT’S MEETING ABOUT TOTTENHAM MANAGER’S JOB
There seems to be some movement in Spurs’ quest to bring in Slot, it’s been suggested that on Wednesday there has been a meeting between the Dutchman’s representatives and Feyenoord.

If Daniel Levy can sort out a deal for the attack-ended manager, then it looks as though he will be their man.
But, of course, it requires Levy to pay compensation and don’t be surprised if things fall apart, which would open the door for free-agent Rodgers to get closer to the Spurs job.
