Burnley move to sign former Chelsea striker -247sportcamp news

Vincent Kompany will be looking to strengthen his squad in the upcoming transfer window and Ike Ugbo is the latest name in the frame

Burnley have been credited with an interest in Troyes striker Ike Ugbo – who is also a reported target for Rangers.

The Scottish Premier League side are said to be ‘on the trail’ of the former Chelsea man – whom ‘Gers boss Michael Beale knows from his time at Stamford Bridge. It’s claimed, however, that the Clarets are ‘also keen’ on the 24-year-old.

Ugbo made the move to Belgian outfit Genk in 2021 after loan spells with Roda and Cercle Brugge. The striker scored 16 goals in 32 matches for the latter.

That attracted the attention of Genk and the Canada international then made a permanent move to Troyes last summer. He is under a long-term contract with the Ligue 1 side.

Vincent Kompany’s current striking options are Lyle Foster, Michael Obafemi, Jay Rodriguez and Scott Twine – with Wout Weghorst’s future set to be decided following the conclusion of his loan deal at Manchester United.
