As an amateur hack, I just love all the speculation that emerges relating to transfers, both incoming and outgoing.

Dissecting various rumours will, I suspect, now form the bread and butter of my work until the transfer window closes and the 2023/2024 season starts.

Already the speculation has started to build and one name that is being linked with a move to Kenilworth Road, is a very familiar name, that of Kiernan Dewsbury Hall.

The Express are reporting that, following Leicester City’s unfortunate relegation from the top-flight, after winning it not that long ago, they may be set for a summer clear-out and that the Hatters could be interested in bringing the 24-year-old to the club.

One foundation for such a move is based on a tweet Kiernan left after Luton’s Wembley triumph:

Dewsbury-Hall spent a season loan with the Hatters, in 2020/2021, and impressed immensely but what are the chances of Luton Town pulling off such an audacious swoop?

Well, my view is that they are very slim.

Leicester City, courtesy of their relegation, are set to make wholesale changes to their squad with the likes of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes being among those, possibly, set to leave.

Indeed, the Leicester Mercury is backing up my beliefs, suggest that having signed a new five-year deal, not too long ago, the King Power based club are keen to build their team around Dewsbury-Hall.

There is also the small matter of the price-tag!

Players on 5-year-deals don’t come cheap, especially one who is seen as being a key cog in the side next season. Although, courtesy of their promotion to the Premier League, Luton Town will have vast riches at their disposal, I can’t see the club veering away from the financial rules they’ve lived by over the past few years.

Therefore, if I had to give this potential deal a mark out of 10, with 10 being a certainty and 0 being the opposite, I’d settle for a 2.

Is this something you agree with, or do you beg to differ?
