Plymouth Argyle are one of the latest sides to be linked to Ipswich Town’s young starlet El Mizouni according to reports on TWTD. El Mizouni shone last season, in an impressive promotion campaign with Leyton Orient and now appears to be a wanted man.

The young midfielder has been linked with several clubs, as a move away from Portman Road looks possible this summer. The Tunisian midfielder won’t be short of opportunities this season, as he returns to Suffolk for pre-season training.

Alongside newly promoted Plymouth Argyle, League One Wycombe Wanderers and SPFL side Aberdeen have reportedly registered interest alongside the already linked Derby County and Watford in the player who won Player’s Player Of The Season as well as Manager’s Player at the club’s annual awards at his loan club. Leyton Orient utilised the loan market to bring the Ipswich midfielder in, and some reports have also suggested The O’s may want to bring El Mizouni back.

Who is El Mizouni?

El Mizouni joined Ipswich Town’s youth team in 2017 and the Paris-born midfielder signed his first professional contract with The Blues in 2018.

Since then, Idris El Mizouni has spent loan spells and Cambridge United and Grimsby Town, where he made positive impacts and gained valuable game time to develop his career.

In 2021, the talented star extended his stay at Portman Road until 2024, before joining Leyton Orient last season in a promotion-winning campaign. The Tunisian made 44 appearances in all competitions scoring on three occasions for Richie Wellens’ side.

Writer’s View

El Mizouni’s next move will be an important one, the form he captured at Leyton Orient resulted in him putting his name up there with the best midfielders in the lower leagues last season.

The Tunisian added another dimension to the Leyton Orient midfield, battling for the ball but showing the ability to lead attacks and be an influence in the middle of the park, showing a maturity beyond his years and that composure is the reason the 22-year-old is so heavily sought after.

In my opinion, if Mizouni isn’t going to be a starter for The Blues, he should move on loan again or take a chance to play regular football elsewhere permanently. If Plymouth are serious in their interest, a move for the midfielder would be a shrewd move, and The Pilgrims would be an excellent club for him to showcase his talents.

Finally, signing until 2024 will enable Ipswich Town to make a decision on what they do next, Kieran McKenna would be an amazing manager to develop the midfielder’s talents, if he’s a part of his playing squad next season, El Mizouni should take the opportunity to learn from an excellent coach.
