Sheffield Wednesday are weighing up a move for Lincoln City right-back Regan Poole, according to The Star’s Joe Crann.

Poole, 24, currently plays for Lincoln City, but the former Manchester United youngster sees his Imps contract expire at the end of this month.

The dynamic right-back has been with Lincoln City for the past two-and-a-half seasons where he’s racked up 114 league appearances – he’s missed just three league games in the past two seasons.

Sheffield Wednesday are one of several teams to have been linked with a summer swoop for the Welshman who has previously represented the likes of Newport County, Northampton Town, and MK Dons.

It comes as the Owls ready themselves for their return to the Championship after winning promotion via the League One play-offs last month.

And on the whole, Sheffield Wednesday fans seem very keen to see Poole make the free move to Hillsborough this summer.

Here’s what some Wednesday fans had to say on the rumour online:

This is absolutely the type of player I want to see us linked with in the summer. Although we are starting a little late the playoff comeback and the site of 45,000 Wednesday fans at Wembley will have done no harm to our recruitment potential

My colleague is a Lincoln fan, just spoke to him and he said “Our best player over the last 2 seasons and is far too good for Lg1. On a free it would be a no-brainier” so that bodes well, fingers crossed!

Thought he was best player on pitch at Hillsborough when we played them. Was captain too iirc .

Led to believe that Lincoln City’s former Manchester United defender, Regan Poole, has made his way onto #SWFC’s radar. He’ll be a free agent soon, and at 24 he ticks a lot of the right boxes. He reportedly wants a step up from League One.

Captain and 100s of appearances at a young age. Sounds good to me
