Aston Villa have the kind of ambition that could lure Premier League star to Villa Park this summer.

Aston Villa have the kind of ambition that could lure Youri Tielemans to Villa Park this summer, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT.

The midfielder will be leaving Leicester City at the end of the month when his contract expires and has been linked with a move to Unai Emery’s side.

Aston Villa transfer news — Youri Tielemans

According to The Athletic, Villa have entered the race to sign Tielemans, who’s available on a free transfer.

They face competition for his signature, though, with the same outlet reporting that some of the Villans’ Premier League rivals are also interested in the Belgian.

During his time at Leicester, Tielemans made 195 appearances and scored 28 goals, as per Transfermarkt.

It was his strike in the FA Cup final against Chelsea back in 2021 that saw the Foxes win the competition for the first time in their history.

What has Dean Jones said about Youri Tielemans and Aston Villa?

Jones thinks Villa may be able to tempt Tielemans to join them this summer, though he expects the 26-year-old to demand a £150,000-a-week wage packet.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Villa have been linked with Tielemans and if he wants to stay in England, this is the sort of thing he might need to consider. He considers himself good enough to be playing Champions League, and I think we’ll also be looking at a pay packet of around £150,000-a-week for him

“Villa have ambition that might prove tempting even if they can’t totally fulfil everything he has been hoping for when he has considered life after Leicester.”

Would Youri Tielemans be a good signing for Aston Villa?

Without a doubt. He’s obviously very familiar with the Premier League and is a midfielder with a lot of ability.

As per FBref, Tielemans has ranked in the 89th percentile for expected assisted goals and the 84th for progressive passes among his positional peers over the last year.

Ultimately, whoever signs the Belgium international on a free this summer will be getting a bargain.

With Villa set to play in Europe next season after qualifying for the Europa Conference League, he’s the kind of player needed at Villa Park.

Competition for his signature looks like it’s going to be fierce, though, while £150,000-a-week is a lot of money. However, Tielemans is definitely a player worth pursuing if you’re Villa or another Premier League club around their level.

Aston Villa have been offered a chance to sign 23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix ahead of next season.

According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Aston Villa are keen on acquiring a new forward ahead of next season and they have been offered a chance to sign Joao Felix. The 23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward’s future is uncertain and he is likely to be on the move in the upcoming transfer window.

Felix came through the ranks at Benfica before making a big money move to the Madrid-based club back in the summer of 2019. While the Portuguese international has shown glimpses of the talent he possesses, the 23-year-old hasn’t had the desired impact.

The former Benfica star has featured in a total of 131 matches for Deigo Simeone’s team and has only managed to contribute towards 52 goals. He has found the back of the net only on 34 occasions.

His game time took a hit in the 2022-23 season. Relations between the Portugal international and Simeone fell out and he was sent out on loan to Chelsea in the winter transfer window. It was a six-month straightforward loan move.

The 23-year-old made a total of 20 appearances and found the back of the net on four occasions. While his numbers aren’t impressive enough, the Blues were impressed with his overall impact and were considering acquiring his services on a permanent basis.

However, their new manager Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out a potential move. And, he is returning to his parent club. With Felix no longer on good terms with Simeone, it is likely that both parties are looking for a solution in the summer.

But, it is certain that Atletico Madrid will only sell for the right price having spent a lot on acquiring him back in the day. The Portugal international wants to continue in England and according to O’Rourke, he has been offered to Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s men are keen on acquiring a new forward ahead of next season. The Spanish manager believes signing a new forward is crucial to take his team to the next level and they could push for him.

Villa have been ambitious in the past few windows and they do have the foundation to push for a big move. And, Felix’s arrival will surely help their cause. However, it might depend on the price the Madrid-based club are looking for.
