All Nigerian Soccer have revealed that Lille are ahead of Burnley in the race to sign Gift Orban. The report suggests that, while Burnley may be interested, they have not actually made an approach for the Nigerian striker. Lille, poised to lose out on another former Gent striker in Jonathan David, want to bring Gift Orban in to fill the void that the Canadian will leave.

However, the biggest issue Lille face is that Gent have no desire to sell Orban this summer, having only just signed him in January. ANS report that Gent have not even set an asking price, such is their desire to keep him at the club next season. Therefore, any offer will have to be in the region that the club simply cannot turn down.

Orban, who scored 18 goals in 23 games during his time in the Norwegian second tier, had equal success in Belgium. In 22 games for Gent he scored a remarkable 20 goals.

The club’s American owners however are also looking to invest in another side and are eyeing Kompany’s native Belgium.

KV Kortrijk are the side that Burnley want and they have offered Tan over €15m.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Tan wants €17.5m in order to sell KV Kortrijk.

Burnley’s owners are optimistic that their proposal will be acceptable, but do not want to play the waiting game.

They want a quick response from Tan over their offer.

KV Kortrijk finished 14th in the Belgian top flight this season, four points clear of the relegation zone.

The previous campaign the side sat in 13th spot and it remains to be seen if Burnley send players over for experience if the takeover goes through.
