Leeds United: ‘Shock’ Joel Robles exit now lined up amid transfer twist at Everton

Everton are lining up a “shock” summer move for Leeds United goalkeeper Joel Robles, according to The Sun.

The newspaper notes that Toffees boss Sean Dyche wants competition for the number one spot and Robles is currently on his radar.

The Sun added that the potential switch comes as Manchester United are ready to move for Jordan Pickford, and could offer Tom Heaton as part of any deal.

But Tottenham are also reportedly watching Pickford, with Aston Villa also showing an interest, the newspaper added.

“Manchester United are ready to move for England No 1 Jordan Pickford whether David de Gea leaves or not,” according to The Sun. “Spurs are still watching Pickford developments and Aston Villa may also come for him if Argie World Cup-winner Emi Martinez leaves.

“United could offer former Burnley number one Tom Heaton a Sean Dyche reunion at Everton as part of any deal

“Although the Toffees are already lining up a shock swoop for Leeds keeper Joel Robles. Dyche wants competition for the No 1 position and Spaniard Robles is on his radar.”

Goalkeeper merry-go-round

Forget the continuous managerial merry-go-round, there could be a goalkeeper merry-go-round at two billionaire-owed clubs in the Premier League this summer, with Everton ace Pickford at the centre of it.

Interest in the Toffees and England number one is unsurprising given his displays over the years, with Erik ten Hag seemingly in need of a new goalkeeper amid the uncertainty around current number one De Gea.

And while it was once Illan Meslier who was the centre of attention at Elland Road, it is his fellow goalkeeper Robles who is now hitting the headlines after impressing in the final weeks of the latest Premier League campaign.

The experienced shot-stopper spent five years at Goodison Park from 2013-2018, so it is a club he knows very well, with plenty of minutes on the cards next season should he return.

The Toffees will lose veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic this summer as the Bosnian is also set to be involved in this goalkeeper merry-go-round, with a switch to Leeds perhaps a possibility if Robles was to go in the other direction.
