West Ham will reportedly blow Borussia Dortmund out the water in the race to sign ‘exceptional’ Edson Alvarez this summer.

Borussia Dortmund are battling West Ham for the signing of Ajax star Edson Alvarez in the summer transfer window, according to Bild.

Bild claim that the Hammers are prepared to meet Ajax’s €45 million (£38 million) valuation of the 25-year-old and pay him a far bigger salary than he would earn at Dortmund.

Signing an elite defensive midfielder will be the top priority for David Moyes this summer, with Declan Rice widely expected to leave the club.

Alvarez certainly fits into that category, and has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium over the past month or so.

The Mexican would be the perfect summer signing for us, so when news of Dortmund’s interest in him emerged it was somewhat of a concern.

However, it seems as though we have absolutely nothing to worry about…

Bild reckon that Borussia Dortmund will not be able to compete finically with the Hammers in the race to sign the Mexico international.

That really is very good news for us, if true of course.

Described by The Daily Mail as an ‘exceptional’ holding midfielder who breaks up play, Alvarez would be a superb replacement for Rice at the London Stadium.

At 25, the Ajax star still has his best years ahead of him and will be able to perform at a high level for West Ham for at least another seven years or so.

In 31 Eredivisie outings this season, the 25-year-old bagged three goals and three assists. During those appearances, he averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.4 clearances per game. He made 77.3 passes on average per game and recorded a mightily impressive completion rate of 88.9% (Who Scored).

£38 million for the Mexican would represent fabulous business for the Hammers.

And if David Moyes brings Edson Alvarez to West Ham for that fee in the summer, I think we’ll be in a really strong position heading into the 2023/24 season.

West Ham are reportedly now in pole position to sign absolutely rapid forward

West Ham are reportedly now in pole position to sign absolutely rapid forward Sheraldo Becker this summer.

According to German football journalist Christian Falk, West Ham are leading the race to sign Sheraldo Becker from Union Berlin in the summer transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to add more pace and power to his front-line this summer, so it’s no surprise that he might want to sign Becker.

West Ham actually tried to sign the 28-year-old on transfer deadline day in the January window but he remained with Union Berlin in the end.

However, it now seems like Moyes is keen to get a deal wrapped up for the Suriname international at the second attempt…

West Ham reportedly now in pole position to sign absolutely rapid forward Sheraldo Becker

Christian Falk reckons that the Hammers are leading the race to sign the Union Berlin forward.

The Bundesliga side are allegedly demanding around £20 million (£17 million) for Becker.

That would represent very good value for West Ham, especially considering the fact that he has exactly what we lack in the final third – blistering pace.

Give Me Sport recently described the Union Berlin ace as ‘lightening quick’. He can play on either wing, in the number 10 position or even as an auxiliary striker.

Becker has a really impressive attacking output to match his rapid speed as well.

He bagged 12 goals and 10 assists in 48 games for Union Berlin this season (Transfermarkt).

If West Ham sign Sheraldo Becker for £17 million, I think it will be very good business for the club.
