Crystal Palace eye Marc Guehi replacement amid Arsenal and Tottenham interest
Crystal Palace have reportedly identified a replacement for star Marc Guehi who has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Eagles are looking at centre-back options this summer in case they lose one or both of Guehi and Joachim Andersen who is of interest
to Newcastle.
The defensive duo both moved to Selhurst Park in the summer of 2021 and have been outstanding for Palace ever since, forming a fantastic
partnership at the back.
Chelsea academy graduate Guehi has been especially impressive, becoming a regular in the England squad, and has been earmarked as a future
Three Lions captain by Roy Hodgson.
As such, he has been touted for a big money move this summer, with London rivals Arsenal and Spurs the two clubs most closely linked with the
22-year-old, though Liverpool and Manchester United have also held an interest in him.
Nevertheless, Palace are preparing for a scenario where one or both leave and according to The Athletic they are now exploring a deal to sign
Torino defender Perr Schuurs.
The Dutchman has impressed since moving to the Serie A side from Ajax last season but with three years left on his contract the Eagles may
struggle to sign him with funds said to be low this summer.
All will hinge on Guehi and Andersen’s future, but the South Londoners will be keen to hold onto what they’ve got, especially with other stars
touted to leave.
Any transfer could be thwarted by Palace’s £60million valuation of the defender, whom they paid Chelsea £20m for and who reportedly has a 20%
sell-on fee in his contract.
Danish international Andersen, renowned for his searching long diagonal passes, is admired by Newcastle but the Magpies are likely to be priced
out of a move for the former Fulham and Lyon star.
The likes of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise are on the radar of United, Arsenal and PSG, while goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is being eyed up by
Everton and out of contract talisman Wilfried Zaha is still undecided on his future.
More pressingly, Palace are still without a manager and with pre-season just around the corner its looking more and more likely that Hodgson will
extend his stay at the club after he returned on an interim basis to replace the sacked Patrick Vieira.
