Marvelous Nakamba is expected to leave Villa this summer with Premier League new boys Luton keen to take the midfielder on a permanent deal.
The Zimbabwe international impressed while on loan with the Hatters during the second half of last season, playing a key role as they won promotion from the Championship through the play-offs.
Nakamba is keen on moving to Kenilworth Road permanently, with Villa also happy to cash in on a player who has just one year remaining on his contract. Talks are expected to step up when the 29-year-old returns from his summer break early next month.
Fellow midfielder Morgan Sanson is another player Villa will look to move on this summer. The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Strasbourg.
Nottingham Forest and Luton are among the clubs chasing Asmir Begovic, talkSPORT understands.
The Premier League duo are joined by two Championship clubs in the hunt for the experienced goalkeeper.
Begovic is searching for a new club after leaving Everton at the end of the season following the end of his contract.
The Bosnian goalkeeper moved to Goodison Park from Bournemouth in 2021, making just 10 appearances in two years.
But despite being 36 years of age, Begovic still has aspirations of playing at the highest level.
Discussing his current status, he told talkSPORT: “Still very much a free agent!
“I guess it’s that time of year; lots of rumours, lots of stories, everything is going around but it’s all good fun.
“The next two weeks will become a little bit clearer.
“There have definitely been some conversations with certain people, certain clubs and I think in the next few weeks they’re going to heat up as June goes on into July and pre-season – we’ll see what happens.”
Asked about his hopes of being a number one, Begovic said: “I certainly still feel like I can do it.
“I’ve been very fortunate over my career with injuries and I work very hard to look after myself and be in good physical and mental condition so I think I can still play for a few more years as a number one.
“It’s about trying to find the right situation. It’s not about playing number one at all costs, it’s about finding the right people to work with, the right situation and hopefully having some success together.”
