Fulham want to sign Yerry Mina on free transfer as Everton exit confirmed
Fulham are interested in signing Everton defender Yerry Mina when his contract expires at the end of next week according to Alan Nixon.
Mina is set to leave the club after five years at Goodison Park when his contract expires, with the club officially announcing that he won’t be renewing his deal.
And after talks to take him to Turkey collapsed over his wage demands, Premier League side Fulham are now expected to make him an offer to keep him in England to bolster their own squad.
“Fulham are looking into a deal to keep Yerry Mina in the Premier League after he left Everton,” he wrote on his Patreon account (25 June).
“The Colombian centre-half is a free agent at the end of his Goodison contract and keen to carry on in England.
“Fulham like the powerful defender as a squad man and are expected to make a formal offer to him once they know if they are losing one of theirs.”
Typical
It would be typical of Everton to lose arguably their best defender on a free transfer and watch him swan off to a rival club in the same division and shine.
When the announcement was made that he would be leaving the majority of fans were in agreement with the decision to let him go because his injury problems and wages have been an issue over the years.
But there is no doubting that Everton have been a better team with him in it while he has been at the club and if we don’t successfully replace him during this window then next season will be tough yet again.
Coming up against him if he goes to Fulham won’t be fun at all because of the strengths he has as a defender, being physical and strong which allow him to match up well against a Sean Dyche team.
Fingers crossed he goes elsewhere but if he does stick around in the Premier League he probably won’t be fit enough to make a big impact anyway.
