Brentford now only looking at Nathan Collins as they eye £23 million deal

Brentford are reportedly only looking to sign Wolves defender Nathan Collins to strengthen their defence.

The Republic or Ireland international could follow Ruben Neves out of the door soon.

Collins is thought to be a player Wolves are comfortable selling in order to raise funds and balance the books.

He only joined Wolves last summer from Burnley for £20.5 million.

But seemingly, Julen Lopetegui would be happy for the club to offload him for the right price.

It’s possible there could be movement on this in the coming week. It was recently suggested that there are currently advanced talks between Wolves and Brentford.

Nathan Collins is Brentford’s only centre-back target as they eye £23 million transfer

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Collins is now very much the priority for Brentford.

He says the Bees have actually now stopped looking at other targets to focus on landing the 22-year-old.

He adds that they are hopeful of closing a deal around the £23 million mark.

It has previously been reported that Wolves would be looking for about £25 million to sanction Collins’ exit.

There still hasn’t been any suggestions about the player’s stance on leaving.

Collins struggled for minutes in the second half of 2022/23 following the arrival of Craig Dawson, but it might be that he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Nathan Collins would thrive at Brentford

At this point, it does feel like Collins will go.

Brentford seem really keen to land him and Wolves are very much open to selling.

The FFP situation is a great shame, because it means players with big potential like Collins are at risk of being offloaded.

Collins leaving Wolves just one year after signing for only a few million more than was paid to Burnley is frustrating.

This is a player who has the potential to become a top Premier League centre-back.

Even many officials at Molineux are said to love Collins and believe he could be a top-level defender (via E&S).

If he does go to Brentford then there is a strong chance he will smash it. Especially because he’d likely play alongside the experienced Ben Mee, whom Collins knows from his time at Burnley.
