Liverpool Fail With Bid For Crystal Palace Targeted Defender

Schuurs has been heavily linked with a move away from Torino in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The defender has several suitors in the Premier League with Liverpool, Newcastle and Crystal Palace believed to be interested in signing him up.

Palace are already claimed to have tried their luck with an offer and now it has been claimed that Liverpool have failed with a bid to snare him away from Torino this summer.

According to Turin-based Italian daily Tuttosport (via Tuttomercato), Torino rejected an offer of €30m from the Merseyside giants for the centre-back.

It has been suggested that Napoli’s €25m offer did not find a taker in Torino, who are reluctant to sell the Dutchman, either.

The Serie A club and Schuurs are waiting for more developments and have not made any definitive decision.

Torino are likely to relent and consider selling the centre-back if they receive a fee of around €40m for him.

It remains to be seen whether any of his suitors decide to test Torino’s resolve with improved bids.

Demarai Gray transfer news emerges from Everton as exit talk grows

Journalist Alan Nixon has dismissed rumours that Crystal Palace or Fulham could move for Everton winger Demarai Gray this summer.

Everton

Gray had been linked to both clubs this summer, but those rumours have now been dismissed with a Goodison Park stay now looking like it is on the cards.

Palace had been linked to Gray following Wilfried Zaha’s possible exit, with the club reportedly targeting reinforcements on the wing this summer, while Fulham are in the same boat having lost Willian after his contract expired.

Agent talk could ramp up his price tag amid other interest

The suggestion that most of the talk around Fulham’s interest in Gray came out of the Everton camp suggests the club or agents are trying to increase his price tag through other reported interest, as Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have been linked to the player recently [Daily Mail, 26 June].

Everton will look to sell Gray this summer with his contract set to expire at the end of the coming season and will want to make the most profit possible while shifting his wages off the bill to make room for new signings, as the club are under financial pressure.

Gray made 33 appearances for Everton last season, scoring just four goals and only providing one assist, a drop-off from his first season at Goodison Park where he scored five and bagged four assists, and speculation suggests the winger no longer fits at the club with Sean Dyche’s style of play.
