TRANSFER BATTLE: Nottingham Forest plot swoop for ‘outstanding’ £27m-rated striker, Brentford also keen

Transfer news: Reds and Brentford now linked with Pedro

Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Flamengo striker Pedro during the summer transfer window, with Brentford also keen. The Reds are being linked with a few strikers this summer as they look to bolster their options in attack.

According to Goal, the Reds are now rivalling Thomas Frank for the signing of Pedro. Clubs tried to sign him in January but Flamengo are standing firm on a £27 million valuation.

Pedro does have some experience playing in Europe. In 2019 he left Fluminense for Fiorentina but made just four appearances for the Serie A outfit before returning to Flamengo.

With that failed spell in mind, he might have a sense of unfinished business in Europe. Forest and Brentford are both unnerved by his Fiorentina spell and have made initial enquiries.

Pedro is playing well during 2022/23. He’s found the net on 25 occasions from his position as a trademark number nine and has also laid on a further four assists.

Forest have a decent Brazilian contingent. Felipe, Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa are in place at the City Ground; whilst Renan Lodi could yet return this summer.

That aspect could sway Pedro towards a move to the City Ground. The player has also made six appearances for Brazil and clearly, he will be eyeing more caps in the future.

This would be an intriguing signing. South American football expert Tim Vickery claimed back in November that although he wasn’t particularly quick, he’s an outstanding finisher and comes alive in the penalty area (Sky Sports).

Pedro would have a lot to prove to Forest fans. The fact he’s a good finisher should help though, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Brennan Johnson creating chances for him.

At 25-years-old, the striker has time to continue developing. Coming into a new league like the Premier League will be tough but Danilo has now settled and will be an important player next year.

Rumour rating: 7/10 – we quite like this link but there will be some uncertainties over the impact he might have.

Pedro has been most successful in South America and as a result, it could be a tall order for him to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.

Still, with Steve Cooper in charge, he will receive every opportunity to prove his worth in a team that could definitely do with adding some more goals.
