Sources: Leyton Orient agree to sign Middlesbrough star Sol Brynn

Leyton Orient have agreed a deal to sign Middlesbrough goalkeeper Sol Brynn this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

A number of clubs have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old following his impressive loan performances last season, and Orient have moved fast to agree a deal to take the talented shot-stopper on a season-long loan.

Orient secured promotion last season as League Two champions, however, manager Richie Wellens has been left with a void to fill in his goalkeeping department.

Last season’s No.1 Lawrence Vigouroux left for Championship winners Burnley this summer, so Orient are in the market for a new goalkeeper.

Brynn shone while on loan at Swindon Town last season, and his standout performances saw him named the club’s 2022/23 Player of the Season in their end-of-season awards.

Brynn made 49 appearances for Swindon in the last campaign, including all 46 of their League Two outings.

He kept 13 clean sheets, conceding only 65 goals in the process to help the club to a 10th-placed finish in the league table.

Prior to his loan spell at Swindon, Brynn has also been sent out on loan to Darlington and Queen of the South.

Brynn is highly-regarded at Middlesbrough and was rewarded for his progress out on loan by being handed a new long-term deal until 2026 earlier this summer.

Michael Carrick is a big fan of the young goalkeeper, but believes he needs more experience out on loan before becoming the first-choice keeper at the Riverside Stadium.

Boro have instead turned their attention towards Tottenham product Tom Glover, with Football Insider revealing that the 25-year-old has signed as a free agent.
