Over the last twenty-four hours, speculation has emerged linking Luton Town with a move for a veteran still quite capable of playing Premier League football.

Several sources, including the Birmingham Mail are reporting that the Hatters have been offered the services of Ashley Young.

Young, now 37 years-of-age, is a free agent after his contract, at Villa Park, came to an end.

Although now at the veteran stage of his career, Young made 32 league appearances for the club last season.

Now some may say that he’s too old, others may say that being a former Watford player we should steer clear, whilst others may point to a possible high salary expectation.

But the age thing doesn’t bother me, he’s aged well and still has a spring in his step, as his number of appearances for Aston Villa last season show.

As for being a former Watford player, didn’t that boat sail when we appointed Rob Edwards last season?

And as for the money, Young won’t, I’d imagine, be looking for a long deal, perhaps a one season contract with the option of another?

To me, his signing would bring some much-needed Premier League experience to our squad and he could fill the role vacated by Cody Drameh.
