Wolves behind Bournemouth in hunt for exciting £25m midfielder

Wolves are reportedly behind Bournemouth and a few other clubs in the hunt for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.

Scott is arguably the hottest prospect in the Championship at the moment.

The 19-year-old just finished a brilliant season with the Robins, which saw him named Young Player of the Season.

Scott has had a lot of interest in him for a while now.

Wolves have held an interest since at least January. During the mid-season window, it was reported that Wanderers did actually make contact with Bristol City over a potential transfer.

Wolves remain keen on the player, and it’s thought he would be open to a move to Molineux.

But for the moment it seems Wolves are up against it to land the teen, who drew praise from Jack Grealish after Bristol City’s defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup earlier this year. The England winger described him as ‘a top, top player’ after sharing the field with him.

Bournemouth leading the chase for Wolves target Alex Scott

According to TEAMtalk, Wolves are currently trailing in the race to sign Scott.

It’s Bournemouth who are in pole position right now to sign the attacking midfielder.

Apparently, Cherries officials are ready to back new manager Andoni Iraola in the transfer market, and are prepared to meet the £25 million asking price.

The £25 million asking price could be problematic for Wolves, who are restricted with their spending this summer because of FFP.

But Scott is extremely highly rated and is a player the club has long coveted.

It may be that Wolves are willing to spend such an amount to avoid missing out on an amazing prospect.

So Bournemouth are currently look the most likely next destination for Scott.

The report from TEAMtalk also mentions Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, but the Cherries are leading the charge.

Wolves may well need to get a move on.

But it’s obviously difficult because the financial situation is dictating how the club operates this summer.

It may well be that Wanderers need a couple more player sales first before making their move for Scott.

If that’s the case then hopefully the outgoings happen quickly.

It would be a great shame if Wolves ended up in a position to afford Scott but he had already changed clubs.

Hopefully, he is willing to wait if Wolves do need a bit of time.
