The English club, which has a good relationship with Besiktas after the transfer of Cenk Tosun and Dele Alli last season, has offered Holgate to the Turkish club.

If Holgate accepts the transfer, Besiktas are keen on brokering a deal which would not involve them having to pay a transfer fee or a loan fee.

Holgate’s contract with Everton expires in 2025, and his current market value is €9 million [Transfermarkt]Besiktas are keen on strengthening the defence over the summer transfer window as centre-back Romain Saiss’ future remains in doubt.

The transfer would be a boost for Besiktas, as Holgate is a talented defender who has experience in the Premier League.

He would add depth to the Besiktas squad, and he could be a valuable asset in the Europa League.

Holgate made just eight appearances in the Premier League last season.

‘Prem clubs definitely want him’ – Pundit believes Everton star has done enough for big move

Gabby Agbonlahor feels there will be clubs in the Premier League that “definitely want” Alex Iwobi, with the “reliable” Everton man’s future up in the air.

Everton’s last couple of seasons have been poor to say the least. They’ve narrowly managed to avoid relegation in both of the last two campaigns – by four points two seasons ago and by just two points last season.

If that pattern continues, they could be down by the end of next term. As such, as has been the case in each of the last three transfer windows, they need to make some improvements.

However, it’s some big-name players leaving the club they’ll be concerned about, after Yerry Mina, Tom Davies and Andros Townsend have all already left. Winger Iwobi could be next, and his would be the exit the Toffees feel the most.

Former Premier League striker feels he’s been one of their best players of late.

“When he was needed, he stood up for Everton,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“He put in good performances, and has great energy with the ball; maybe his finishing could be a bit better.”

He’s right. Last season, Iwobi was a shining light in an otherwise dull side – he directly contributed to 10 goals in all competitions; no other Everton player was involved in more goals.

But his contract is up next season, and he could potentially leave the club now if they can’t reach an agreement with him, as they’d surely rather sell him than see him leave for nothing next summer.

“He’s a top player, and possibly for his new contract he wants more money,” Agbonlahor added.

“There will be clubs in the Premier League that will definitely want him, as he does not set the world alight but he’s reliable.”

Iwobi might well deserve more money after last season – though that’s unclear – but whether Everton give him that will depend on whether they can afford it.

Furthermore, there is at least one club in the league that wants him – West Ham have reportedly enquired about his services.

With that being said, if the Toffees can’t come to an agreement with the winger, they might well lose him this summer.
