The season hasn’t even started yet, and it seems Wolverhampton Wanderers have already started scouting some players.

According to Portuguese newspaper Record, representatives from the Molineux side were in Lisbon on Wednesday.

There, the scouts watched the friendly between Sporting and Genk to keep an eye on Lions’ forward Youssef Chermiti.

Record already knew there was an English emissary at the match, and now they managed to find out he worked for Wolves.

Even though Chermiti has been showing big potential, the story claims that Sporting do not close the door to his exit.

The Lisbon side would be interested in negotiating him in case a ‘fair’ bid arrives, and that would be of at least €20m, plus 20% of a future sale.

The story says there have been ‘exploratory contacts’, although it’s not clear if those came from Wolves, plus it’s claimed that an offer could arrive in the coming days.

This is an interesting situation because Chermiti is protected by a €80m release clause, in a contract until 2027, and Portuguese sides usually fight harder to keep their young talents.
