WOLVES NEAR £8M DEAL AS DIRECTOR ADMITS STAR HAS ‘TOLD US’ HE WANTS MOVE
Wolves are reportedly closing in on a deal for Nico Elvedi with Borussia Monchengladbach’s managing director doing little to dampen the speculation surrounding the Premier League-bound centre-half.
The transfer market giveth, and the transfer market taketh away as far as Gladbach are concerned.
During a revealing press conference on Friday, the Bundesliga club’s managing director Roland Virkus admitted that talks were underway to bring in Max Wober from Leeds United.
Wober will, for all intents and purposes, fill a void created by Elvedi’s departure to Wolverhampton Wanderers. With a contract expiring in 2024, and having informed Gladbach of his desire to try ‘something new’, Julen Lopetegui’s concerns over Wolves’ lack of transfer market activity should be quelled somewhat as Elvedi packs his bags and heads to Molineux.

“I said I want players to want to play here. (Those who) want to commit to Borussia Monchengladbach,” Virkus tells Gladbach Live.
“Nico told us that he wanted to do something new. We understand that. We want to clarify things as soon as possible.”
Wolves, BILD say, will pay around £8 million for the long-serving Switzerland international. Virkus, however, insists that there is ‘still a lot to do’ before the Zurich-born 26-year-old is posing for photos in ‘Old Gold’.
“In the case of Nico, it’s like this; Nico has performed excellently here for eight years. And then maybe there’s a point where the player says, ‘I need a new challenge’, which is completely normal and I don’t find it objectionable,” Virkus adds.
“And then you have to make sure that you find solutions.
“We’re in these talks. And then we’ll see what ultimately comes out of it. Nico told us that he would like to do something new, quite frankly. And we understand that too.”
Elvedi will strengthen a Wolves backline hit by the departures of Nathan Collins and Conor Coady to Brentford and Leicester City. Speculation continues to rage over Max Kilman’s future too with Serie A champions Napoli interested.

Wolves Have Options And Add-Ons In Star’s Exit Deal
Wolverhampton Wanderers have several add-ons and options in the deal which has taken Ryan Giles to Luton Town, according to Express & Star.
Giles, 23, spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough and regularly featured in the Championship side’s campaign.
Boro were keen to bring their former loanee to the Riverside Stadium again this summer, but were priced out of a deal.
Giles has completed his move to the Hatters, but Wolves have retained some influence over his future.
Wolves were not eager to part with the highly-rated defender but are reluctantly letting the player go, with the Premier League side keeping in line with financial fair play rules.
However, Julen Lopetegui’s side are putting several options in the deal, including add-ons, a sell-on clause and a buy-back option.
Wolves have already witnessed a number of key players depart the club in the ongoing transfer window.
The Hatters, on the other hand, are eyeing bolstering their defensive stocks ahead of a Premier League campaign and will be hoping to see Giles prove himself in the top flight.
Now with Wolves putting several clauses on Giles’ deal, it remains to be seen how they use the options in their favour in the future.
