Crystal Palace weigh up Che Adams bid amid Michael Olise interest from Chelsea

Roy Hodgson wants to sign Che Adams but Crystal Palace will weigh up alternative options before making their move for the Southampton striker.

Odsonne Edouard scored the only goal for Palace in their 1-0 win at Sheffield United on Saturday, with Jean-Philippe Mateta an unused substitute ahead of potentially departing the Eagles to raise funds for their refresh in attack.

Scotland international Adams wants a move back to the Premier League after Southampton were relegated last season.

Crystal Palace are considering a £10million offer for Adams, 27, this week but remain undecided on their favoured striking target.

Hodgson wants an experienced forward after losing Wilfried Zaha on a free transfer to Galatasaray last month.

Adams fits the bill but Palace will wait to see if they bank a substantial fee for wide forward Michael Olise, who is a target for both Chelsea and Manchester City

Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman hopes to hold onto his winger for another season but a £45m bid could force them to the negotiating table.

Hodgson could lose the ex-Reading star Olise, who remains out for a “considerable period” after tearing his hamstring with France Under-21s at the European Championships this summer.

Brazilian forward Matheus Franca, 19, is also out having joined in a £26m move from Flamengo with an injury.

The 21-year-old offers versatility to the Blues as he can play as an attacking midfielder and a right winger.

He excelled playing as a winger last season for Crystal Palace and entered the club’s history books by becoming the first player to notch 10 assists in a single Premier League season.

The former Reading star finished the campaign with 11 assists which was the joint third-best in the Premier League last season.

Chelsea want to bounce back from last season’s disappointment which saw them finish with 44 points, the worst in their Premier League history.
