Bournemouth are set to step up their interest in Leicester City forward Patson Daka before the transfer window closes next week.

The Zambian international is valued at £25million by the Foxes, and a loan offer from Everton was turned down earlier in the summer.

Daka has not been involved in Leicester’s squad for their last two Championship games and head coach Enzo Maresca has admitted to leaving some players out because of speculation about their futures.

The 23-year-old arrived at the King Power Stadium in June 2021 for a fee of £23million from Red Bull Salzburg.

Daka has scored 15 goals in 74 Leicester appearances since, but he was unable to help stop the club getting relegated from the Premier League last season.

His stock has remained high though, with a number of clubs willing to give him another shot in the English top flight.

Bournemouth have already spent heavily since appointing Andoni Iraola as head coach in June, bringing in eight new players already.

Daka could be set to join the likes of Tyler Adams, Alex Scott and Justin Kluivert in signing for the Cherries this summer.

Having fallen to a 3-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last time out, Iraola’s side will be looking to bounce back against Tottenham at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Leicester are set to sign 24-year-old Turkish international winger Yunus Akgun from Galatasaray as Daka’s replacement.

The former Premier League champions have also enjoyed a busy transfer window, signing six new players and selling 10.

Despite losing the likes of Harvey Barnes and James Maddison, Maresca has made a promising start to life at Leicester.

The Foxes currently sit joint-top of the Championship after winning all three of their matches so far this season.

They are back in action on Saturday when they make the trip to south Yorkshire to take on Rotherham United.
