NOTTINGHAM FOREST THINK THEY WILL BEAT ASTON VILLA TO PLAYER ‘WITH GREAT PROMISE’

Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest are now reportedly hopeful of beating Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to the signing of Nuno Tavares from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail has reported that Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa are interested in signing Nuno Tavares from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The report has claimed that Forest’s initial talks with Arsenal and Tavares over a move this summer had broken down.

However, the Reds have reignited their interest in the 23-year-old and are now hopeful of getting a deal done for the left-back, who was described as “a young player with great promise” by Arteta on the Gunners’ official website in July 2021.

Forest plan to sign Tavares on a season-long loan deal with an option to make it permanent next summer.

Tavares has failed to make a huge impact at Arsenal, and it does not look as though Arteta thinks that he is good enough to play in the first team week in and week out.

While the Portuguese youngster has done well on occasions, he has not found the consistency yet to succeed at a club as big and ambitious as Arsenal.

A loan move to Forest would be good for Tavares.

The 23-year-old could get to play regularly in the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa now try to make a late move for the left-back.

While Forest think that they beat Villa to the signing of the 23-year-old, you just never know what could happen in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Tavares has made 22 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The 23-year-old has scored one goal, given one assist, and kept three clean sheets in those games.
