Celtic Chase Exciting Long Term Joe Hart Replacement – Report

Liverpool 'keeper Caoimhin Kelleher hoping to be rewarded with Premier League start against Wolves | Daily Mail Online

The transfer window may have slammed shut until January, but the rumour mill never stops turning. One of the most intriguing whispers to emerge post-deadline is Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’ interest in Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher.

With Joe Hart not getting any younger, Rodgers is reportedly eyeing the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international as a long-term replacement between the sticks.

Kelleher had been hoping for a move this summer, potentially to another Premier League club, but that didn’t materialise. Despite this, his eventual departure from Anfield seems increasingly likely.

Celtic reportedly made enquiries about the young keeper’s availability but were told that a move wasn’t possible at this time. Liverpool are particularly cautious due to rumoured interest from Saudi Arabia in their first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson. Additionally, letting Kelleher go would necessitate finding a homegrown replacement, adding another layer of complexity to any potential deal. [SunSport]

The prospect of becoming Celtic’s number one goalkeeper is said to be appealing to Kelleher in the same report, who has spent much of his career in the shadows at Liverpool.

Celtic fans were left disappointed as the transfer window closed without the arrival of a new goalkeeper. The club currently has three keepers on its books, and it’s likely that one would need to be offloaded to make room for any new addition.

While a move for Kelleher didn’t come to fruition this time around, it’s a story worth keeping an eye on as the January window approaches.
