HARRY KANE NOW REALLY TRYING TO HELP £25M STRIKER WHO SNUBBED TOTTENHAM
Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Mathys Tel and Harry Kane is now taking a keen interested in the Bayern Munich wonderkid.
Harry Kane is really pushing Bayern Munich talent Mathys Tel after Tottenham Hotspur missed out on his signature.
That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Tel ‘never wanted to leave’ Bayern this summer.
Tel only completed a £25million move to Bayern last summer but was already being linked away, just a year since his departure from Rennes.
Tottenham were interested in Tel according to The Telegraph and wanted to use Bayern’s interest in order to land the Frenchman.
That obviously didn’t happen but Kane was still able to make his move to Germany in August.
One interesting note from Plettenberg is that Kane is now really pushing Tel internally at Bayern, seemingly trying to help make him an even better player.
That’s a terrifying prospect with Tel now in position to learn from one of the greats of the modern era.
Mathys Tel snub brought Tottenham to Brennan Johnson
Bild reporter Tobi Altschaffl and Plettenberg both made it clear that Tel had no interest in a move to Tottenham.
The 18-year-old is considered to be a player with huge potential and he wasn’t going to give up at Bayern after just one year.
In truth, five goals in 22 Bundesliga games wasn’t a terrible record and Bayern never seemed to really entertain the idea of letting him go.
Tel is thriving already this season and scored a late winner against Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend.
Tel deciding to stay rather than be part of any Kane deal meant Tottenham had to look elsewhere and, it took a while, but they have landed Brennan Johnson.
Johnson and Tel are both exciting young forwards with real pace and versatility across the front line.
Tottenham decide they wanted a flexible attacker rather than a like-for-like replacement for Kane, which is why targets like Tel and Johnson appeared.
Tel is only 18 and could become an absolute sensation, but you can be sure that Tottenham are very happy to have Johnson on board now.
