Once that was rebuffed the League Two club agreed a deal with George Evans, who had his Millwall contract terminated by mutual consent.

And the South London Press also understands that Derby County were interested in rapid left winger Blackett-Taylor.

The former Tranmere Rovers attacker, who started his career on the books of Aston Villa, has started all of Charlton’s League One fixtures this season.

Both Dobson and Blackett-Taylor are inside the final 12 months of their Charlton deals.

Leaburn has recently returned from an ankle injury suffered in pre-season. He scored in the 4-3 EFL Trophy defeat at Crawley Town on Tuesday night.

Wrexham were interested in a move for Charlton Athletic captain George Dobson in the last transfer window, according to a report by London News Online.

Wrexham were rebuffed in their attempts to lure the midfielder down to League Two and subsequently turned their attentions to George Evans from Millwall instead.

Dobson, 25, ended up staying at The Valley beyond the deadline last Friday and has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the London club.

Signing Dobson would have been a statement of intent by Wrexham and he would have been an eye-catching addition for a team in the fourth tier. However, it wasn’t to be and Evans ended up moving to the Racecourse Ground instead which isn’t a bad alternative at all.

Charlton signed Dobson back in 2021 and he has since become a key player for them in the middle of the park. He has made 103 appearances in all competitions, seven of which have come this term, and he has found the net on four occasions.

The Addicks risk losing him for free in June 2024 if they can’t agree terms with him on an extension in the meantime. Therefore, they may have a decision to make regarding his future if a bid was to come in during the January window as that would be their last chance to get a fee for him.

Prior to his move to his current club, Dobson previously had stints at West Ham, Sparta Rotterdam, Walsall, Sunderland and AFC Wimbledon and has found a home now. Wrexham were interested but failed to tempt Charlton into selling.
