Nottingham Forest forward Anthony Elanga has returned to the club after picking up a minor injury. The 21-year-old didn’t play for Sweden as they beat Estonia 5-0 yesterday.

Now, according to Fotbolls EM, the player has been released from the camp. He will now head back to Forest for some treatment ahead of the Reds playing Burnley next Monday.

Elanga signed for Forest from Manchester United for a fee of £15 million during the summer transfer window. He scored his first goal of the campaign last weekend as the Reds won at Chelsea.

Now, Forest will face an anxious wait to discover the extent of the injury. He’s believed to have collected the minor problem during a training session with the international team.

Elanga was believed to have been on the bench for Sweden yesterday. However, the player was injured and was never going to be introduced during the clash.

Now, instead of preparing to face Austria, Elanga has returned to Forest. Steve Cooper will be hoping that the player can be on the mend soon and this proves nothing more than a niggle.

This isn’t good news. With regards to injuries, Forest fans might be forgiven for experiencing a sense of deja vu, with last season blighted by a number of injuries.

Elanga has started his Forest career really well. He’s got a goal and an assist already and the future looks extremely bright for the Sweden international forward.

The rapid performer will hope to be back on the mend soon. If this really is a niggle, Forest might be thankful that he’s been allowed to leave the camp and won’t risk making it worse by playing for Sweden in midweek.
