Anton Walkes, a former Tottenham Hotspur football player, has died at the age of 25. According to reports, the defender was involved in a watercraft accident.

Football player Anton Walkes is no more. He was involved in a boat crash in Miami. Former Tottenham Hotspur player was just 25.

In a tweet, Walkes’s club Charlotte FC confirmed his death by saying that it was “devastated”.

It also called him an “outstanding human being”.

On Wednesday afternoon, Walkes died in a boat crash in Miami, as per the Miami Herald.
In the incident, two boats collided near the Marine Stadium. On being found unconscious, Walkes was given CPR and taken to hospital, the paper said.

The defender appears to have been in Florida with his squad for a pre-season training camp.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player Anton Walkes. The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this incredibly sad time,” Tottenham Hotspur said on Twitter.

Born in Lewisham in south London, Walkes was a graduate of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy.

At under-21 and under-23 level, he played for Tottenham Hotspur but made only one senior appearance in the League Cup. Walkes was also a part of Portsmouth and Atlanta United.

The Major League Soccer (MLS) said on Twitter, “There are no words to describe the sorrow of everyone in Major League Soccer today after learning of the tragic passing of Anton Walkes of Charlotte FC. Anton was a talented and dedicated player who was loved by his teammates and fans.”
