Jota’s move from Celtic to Saudi Arabia is reportedly set for investigation.

According to reports in the Middle East, Al-Ittihad will conduct an internal investigation into the £25 million transfer.

In June, the Portuguese winger moved from the Scottish Premier League to the Saudi Pro League.

The life-changing, mega-money move, however, has not worked out for the 24-year-old.

He was left out of Al-Ittihad’s first-team roster for the upcoming domestic season and now faces the threat of sitting on the bench until January.

It’s said that he will consider asking for a mutual termination of his contract as a result of this, and so only played 133 minutes of football for his new team since joining.

Now, Saudi media outlet Asharq Al-Awsat reports that Al-Ittihad is launching an investigation into the details of the transfer.

It’s claimed that club chiefs are effectively trying to discover why the deal has not worked out in such a rapid fashion.

It’s also been reported that a loan to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq was almost finalized until a wage agreement fell through earlier this month.

With that deal falling through on the Saudi deadline day, it appears Jota will be sidelined for months.

Meanwhile, when a player has a bad day at work, it might be said from the stands that he is ‘worse than a man doon’. Given his often unpredictable efforts in the last third, it’s a jab that Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda has probably heard on occasion.

It could even have been the case early in Saturday’s triumph over Livingston, as the Japanese squandered possession far too easily.

But towards the end of a game in which Celtic played the majority of the game with a man down due to Joe Hart’s dismissal in the first half, he was being praised by his manager for making it appear as if his team had the full quota.

Brendan Rodgers must also take some credit for the outcome. Following Hart’s dismissal, he pushed Maeda up opposite Kyogo Furuhashi, his favored position, and he was a revelation.
