Celtic have found their’dream’ transfer target, with many expecting Joe Hart to be’phased out’…

Caoimhin Kelleher could potentially help Celtic “phase out” Joe Hart as their number one should Liverpool sanction a sale.

That’s the view of former Parkhead goalkeeper Packie Bonner who reckons his old club do need a new stopper to come in and rival the veteran Hart who has been the top man in that position for three seasons. Hart was sent off vs Livingston this weekend and that highlighted the Hoops’ need to bring in competition for the Englishman.

We at Football Scotland told you previously how Dominik Livakovic was of interest before he joined Fenerbahce while we also revealed Brendan Rodgers would not be bringing in a goalie this summer unless he shipped out one of the three already in situ.

For Bonner – who spoke on BBC Sportsound this weekend – Liverpool’s Irish keeper could be one who would be an ideal fit.

Whether the Reds would allow his exit is another question.

Bonner said: “They do need, I think, a young goalkeeper coming through the system. I don’t see it. They’ve gone with Scott Bain today. They’ve got [Ben] Siegrist there who doesn’t seem to be pushing his way through to even become number two.

“So that’s that’s a kind of a worry and they let Conor Hazard go down to England. I think that’s an area where they should have a number three really pushing through. A young guy.

“There was talk about [Caoimhin] Kelleher coming up from from Liverpool. I don’t know if Liverpool will let him go from that point of view.

“Because he fits their criteria, and it would have been an ideal situation to witness.” Could he come in and force Joe Hart to fade into the background as a backup goalkeeper? But for the time being, I believe he is number one.”
