Al Ittihad and Jota are negotiating a settlement, with the forward wishing to be released from his contract and return to Europe as soon as possible.

If Jota is free to leave, 90min believes Tottenham might be interested in pursuing a trade. Ange Postecoglou, who recruited Jota at Celtic at the start of his tenure, is interested on bringing him to north London.

Al Ittihad may eventually make a decision keep him and then sold in the January transfer window.

Tottenham were considering a move for Jota shortly after he was frozen out of the Al Ittihad squad, according to 90min, but instead chose to sign Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson for £45 million.

Johnson and Jota are both speedy and difficult touchline wingers who are better suited to Postecoglou’s favored approach than other of Tottenham’s inside forwards.

Spurs are not the only team interested in Jota, with former club Celtic willing to bring him back to Parkhead.

Brentford, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United are also keeping an eye on the situation, but Jota would ultimately like to work with Postecoglou again, thus Tottenham have the upper hand.

Jota scored 28 goals and had 26 assists in 83 games for Celtic during his two seasons under Postecoglou.
