Chelsea breaking news as Callum Hudson-Odoi has stated that despite spending the majority of his life at Stamford Bridge, the Blues remain close to his heart.

Callum Hudson-Odoi, a former Chelsea player, has opened up about his time at Nottingham Forest and how moving away from his childhood club has impacted his style of play over the past two seasons.

Over four seasons, the 22-year-old made 126 appearances for the Blues, becoming a vital member of squads led by Maurizio Sarri, Frank Lampard, and Thomas Tuchel. However, as a result of injuries and managerial changes, he gradually slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge until he was completely excluded from the dressing room.

That rejection came in the shape of a loan move to Bayer Leverkusen, where he made just 14 league games in a disappointing season under Xabi Alonso. While Leverkusen would enjoy relative success after qualifying for the Europa League in sixth place, Hudson-Odoi would play little to no part in it, with only a single goal contribution in the Champions League to show for his efforts.

Despite a difficult season, he returned to England with newfound confidence and, after a permanent move away from Chelsea during the summer transfer window, has hit the ground running for Steve Cooper’s side, scoring on his debut against Burnley.

“The Chelsea situation, the loan, and now Forest, all in a year.” “I’ve had to mature quickly, and with that comes responsibility,” he said to Sky Sports. “It’s natural to feel gloomy at times.

“However, I’ve learned that you must be yourself, be strong, and deal with whatever comes your way.” I’m finally starting to feel at ease in Nottingham. I’m familiar with the city. There is no traffic on the roadways! London is really congested.”

The winger stated that his style at Chelsea isn’t what the Reds require right now, and he’s seeking for a fresh technique to attack defenders and get into goal-scoring positions. “It felt good. As a winger, it is my responsibility to both create and assist. But I need to improve my score. This year, my mindset has entirely shifted.

“In previous years, I might have played it safe, nice football, and I thought this year I needed to score more goals, get more assists, and be more of a problem than you used to be.”

“It was like phew! when the goal went in!” Relax your shoulders, and seeing my family up there (in the stands) was great. I believe the drive now, as well as the squad’s confidence,

is to obtaining points in each game. Yes, it’s a high ask compared to last year, but I think everyone’s thinking is that we don’t want to be in that situation again.”

It’s unusual for a player his age to have accomplished so much with a squad he’s worked his way up through, with the winger having spent 11 years in the Cobham academy before making his professional debut for the Blues under Antonio Conte.

Bayern Munich pursued Hudson-Odoi in numerous transfer windows, offering Chelsea tens of millions of pounds for the teenager, including a loan deal with a £70 million option to buy. Despite this, he left Chelsea for a reputed £3 million cost.

Despite his precipitous fall down the rotation order, he admits it was a difficult decision to make.

“It was quite difficult. Chelsea will always have a special place in my heart. They provided me with a starting point; it was my home for the first 16 years of my life.

“They gave me the chance to play in the first team and youth cups, and they gave me everything.” Knowing it was time for me to leave was emotional, but there was also excitement – a new chapter, a new beginning.

“It was strange sitting at home, thinking about it at times.” I lived 15 minutes from the (Chelsea) training facility, and I was sitting there thinking, ‘I’m going somewhere where I know no one’.

“It was a little strange. But now that I’m here at Forest, I’m going to give my all to this club.”
