WWE Smackdown vs. Raw Predict Two Superstars’ Deaths.

The internet is an amazing place. We can learn so much and go down so many rabbit holes, but there are a few we generally don’t agree with once we start the journey.

Some are morbid, and others are far reaches that are meaningless. And then there are those that are both, and this is one of them.

Did WWE Smackdown vs. Raw Predict Two Superstars’ Deaths?

If anything, it’s a bizarre factoid that some will point to as a conspiracy for one thing or another or the games being like “The Simpsons” and being able to predict things.

We all see different things and to each their own.

But what struck us is the uncanny timing of two storyline bits from two different games and two real life events. It’s coincidence, but a really eerie one and it’s tied to the Undertaker’s computer version.

Eddie Guerrero

During the early and mid 2000s, the WWE was in the Ruthless Aggression Era and still clinging to some of the vestiges of the Attitude Era as they shifted gears into a different form of sports entertainment.

There were still the dark storylines and simulated deaths that have been used in one way or another in the business for years.

But a couple really caught some fans eyes and we’re going to share them. Let’s buckle up and dive in!

First, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw was a fun video game series and I spent hours playing the 2006 version on my Playstation 2. It allowed us to embark on so many facets including being general manager of either the Raw or Smackdown brand.

But the 2006 version also has an unfortunate piece of history trivia attached to it. It was released on November 11, 2005 and in it the Undertaker threw Eddie Guerrero into a casket and covered him with dirt.

Nothing new there as the WWE has been doing casket and buried alive matches for years, but two days later on November 13, 2005 Eddie passed away in real life.

Chris Benoit

While Eddie’s passing was tragic, what was to come was even worse and is horrific on every level. While there’s been a belief that had Eddie lived than Chris Benoit wouldn’t have gotten as bad as he did since Eddie was a stabilizing presence in his life, but there’s no way to know.

It appears that Benoit suffered from a very bad case of CTE when he murdered his wife and son, then killed himself. We’ve all heard the story.

And this is where WWE Raw vs. Smackdown comes into play as in the 2007 edition of the game, the Undertaker tells Benoit that “If you insist on making this mistake, your grieving family will have no one to blame but you when the inevitable occurs.” Benoit killed his family later that year.

If those aren’t a little freaky on some level we don’t know what is. They are coincidences, but the timing is something that is a curious oddity that may only live on in close knit circles of friends as they reminisce.
