Chants to Fire Matt Canada Take over Penguins Arena, Too

Matt Canada denies telling CBS that Steelers offense isn't built to come from behind | TribLIVE.com

Acrisure Stadium is no longer the only place where the “Fire Canada” cries are heard. Following a second consecutive home game in which Pittsburgh Steelers supporters called for the removal of offensive coordinator Matt Canada against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Pittsburgh Penguins supporters took up the cause on Tuesday during the team’s home debut at PPG Paints Arena.

The cry, which was heard in the first period of the Penguins’ 1-0 victory, was recorded by Jenna Harner of our media partners at WPXI.

No indication has been made by the Steelers that they intend to leave Canada. Running back Najee Harris disagreed with the criticism of their coordinator last week, but the Steelers players have rallied around him.

Matt Canada is Holding Back the Steelers Offense

Harris remarked, “We’ve got to put the plays into action. “In no way are we trying to place blame. That should not be done at this time. Things that are talked about a lot continue to come up in discussion or even go unmentioned. It’s absurd. At the end of the day, we must perform, regardless of who is in charge of calling the plays. I can honestly state that neither coaches nor I are doing it at the moment. Coaches have nothing to do with it. All of it is players. We must improve our performance.

The Steelers are 26th in yards per play, 27th in total yards, and 28th in scoring through five weeks. They finished 26th in scoring, 23rd in yards, and 27th in yards per play in 2022, Canada’s second season as offensive coordinator.

Steelers Have New CB Listed as Starter | Yardbarker

On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a few small tweaks to their depth chart, with Desmond King listed as a co-starter at nickelback alongside Chandon Sullivan. Keeanu Benton, a defensive lineman, was also listed as the ‘OR’ starter alongside DeMarvin Leal.King is also listed as the starting kick returner, and Calvin Austin III as the starting wide receiver.

With Cam Heyward on injured reserve, Benton’s snaps have steadily increased. On Sunday, Leal battled terribly against the Houston Texans. Austin’s victory over Gunner Olzsewski at wide receiver isn’t very noteworthy. The most notable alteration on the depth chart was King being labeled as the ‘OR’ starter alongside Sullivan.
