Commanders star sounds off after loss to Giants: ‘I’m tired of this s**t’

Washington‘s Jonathan Allen is fed up with defeat

The Washington Commanders on Sunday suffered a 14-7 defeat to the New York Giants. The loss to their NFC East rivals encapsulated many of the Commanders‘ problems — a struggling offensive line, a second-year quarterback prone to turnovers, and a defense that ranks among the NFL‘s worst against the pass.

Star defensive lineman Jonathan Allen might have offered fans a glimpse into another problem — even with new ownership in town, Washington‘s losses keep piling up, and their top players are getting frustrated.

Allen is tired of losing

In a 30-second rant clipped by reporter JP FinlayAllen said that the Giants “whupped” the Commanders on Sunday in a game that saw Washington score just one touchdown and convert only one third down from 15 tries.

Then, Allen went deeper, letting it be known how much he hates the way Washington continues to lose games.

I’m f*****g tired of this s**t. I’m f*****g tired of this bulls**t. It’s been seven f*****g years of the same s**t. I’m tired of this s**t.

The profane comments are sure to raise an eyebrow or two in the nation’s capital — especially as the NFL trade deadline is less than 10 days away. Allen, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, may have just placed himself on the trade market.

Washington Football: Jon Allen hopeful of a long-term deal

Allen‘s frustration is understandable on some level, seeing as he was a first-round pick in 2017 and has only played one playoff game since entering the NFL. The Commanders have not had a winning season since selecting Allen, and Sunday’s loss to the division rival Giants has seen their 2023 record fall to 3-4.

Since winning its first two games of the season, Washington has lost four of five, allowing at least 30 points three times. The 356 yards the Commanders’ defense allowed on Sunday is their second-lowest total of the 2023 season — but a turnover-happy offense in need of more dynamic playmaking cost them a shot to get back over .500.
