Police charge 11 males after cop and steward injured in ‘disorder’ at Motherwell v Celtic

Police launched a probe after reports of disorder at the fixture on Saturday, September 30, with incidents alleged to have happened before, during and after it.

Police have charged 11 males after a police officer and a steward were injured at a match between Motherwell and Celtic at Fir Park.

Officers launched a probe after reports of disorder at the fixture on Saturday, September 30.

Following an investigation, officers confirmed they have arrested and charged 11 people, aged between 15 and 30, in connection with disorder offences. These are alleged to have happened before, during and after the match.

Police say they worked with stewards at the time of the fixture to “minimise disruption and ensure the safety of all involved”. One steward and a police officer were injured during an incident prior to kick-off.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following an investigation, officers have arrested and charged 11 men, aged between 15 and 30, in connection with disorder offences experienced before, during, and after the Motherwell vs Celtic football fixture held at Fir Park on Saturday, 30 September, 2023.

“Reports have been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. At the time of the fixture officers worked with stewards to minimise disruption and ensure the safety of all involved. One steward and one police officer were injured during an incident prior to kick-off.”
