Michigan Wolverines Player Claims They Weren’t Worried About Alabama Crimson Tide

The Michigan Wolverines got the bragging rights after beating the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl on Monday. Sure enough, they didn’t waste time before letting Nick Saban’s men hear it from them.

One of the players that quickly mocked Alabama was Michigan defensive lineman Cam Goode, who fired some savage remarks towards the Crimson Tide while celebrating on the field.

While sitting on the end zone as he and the rest of the Wolverines relish the moment, Goode highlighted that they weren’t worried about the Crimson Tide heading into the game. In fact, instead of thinking about the showdown and what Alabama can do against them, Goode claimed they were wondering and couldn’t help but be shocked that Florida State didn’t make the College Football Playoff.

“We were more shocked that Florida State didn’t make it,” Goode said, via Alejandro Avila of OutKick. “We wasn’t worried about Bama. I mean, you guys saw the results. We got the dub, and that’s all that matters, man. Roses smell real good.”

Goode also made sure to emphasize that the Michigan Wolverines beat the Alabama Crimson Tide “fair and square,” referring to the sign-stealing allegations that rocked the team during the season and even caused the suspension of head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“Hear me out. We beat Bama fair and square, that’s all I’m gonna say. Fair and square. Y’all seen it. We beat the referees and Bama, how about that?” Goode added.

Michigan definitely deserves to talk after everything that they went through. They proved that they are legitimate contenders by finally getting over the hump and making it to the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

While the haters will definitely continue to find flaws and criticize them, no one can take away the victory that they just got.

For what it’s worth, while Cam Goode made it look like the Alabama Crimson Tide didn’t pose a threat to them at all, it should be noted that the Michigan Wolverines needed overtime to seal the deal.

In fact, things almost became disastrous for the Wolverines late in the game when Jake Thaw muffed a punt that almost lost them the Rose Bowl for the team.

The Wolverines struck first in overtime to take the lead, and when it mattered most, their top-ranked offense made a key stop, preventing the Crimson Tide to run to the end zone on fourth-and-goal.

After the contest, Saban admitted that it’s their defense that doomed them.

“If you really analyze it, we didn’t play well enough on defense when we needed to, and we had too many drive-stopping plays on offense,” Saban explained, via Chase Goodbread of Tuscaloosa News.

The Crimson Tide should be given some credit for the way they played and making it a competitive Rose Bowl. As for Cam Goode and the Wolverines, though, they can dictate the narrative. To the winners go the spoils, after all.
