Rams Sign QB Dresser Winn, Make Two Other Roster

Prior to their Week 18 encounter against the San Francisco 49ers, the Los Angeles Rams made three roster changes, including signing a quarterback.

Due to the Seattle Seahawks’ loss and the Los Angeles Rams’ victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, the Rams secured a postseason berth last week.

Now that their spot is certain, the Rams are starting to solidify their roster in advance of their last regular season game in Santa Clara against the 49ers. On Tuesday, they made three roster changes.

The Rams made the first move on their line of alterations at quarterback when they signed Dresser Winn for a third season.

After graduating from UT-Martin as an undrafted free agent, Winn spent his first six seasons with the Rams, where he passed for 5,800 yards and 37 touchdowns in 32 games.

Winn was subsequently cut by the Rams in August, and he was then brought back for a single week at the start of November. Between his first two seasons on the squad, Winn was a member of the Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Elks.

Long snapper Alex Matheson was released by the Rams, indicating a change on special teams as well. Last week, with the kicking game experiencing special teams problems, Matheson was substituted in.

Shaun Jolly, a defensive back who has appeared in four games for the Rams this season, was also put. Jolly will now miss the rest of the season unless Los Angeles wins the Super Bowl.
