Green Bay Packers Announce Death Of Two-Time Super Bowl Champion

While the Green Bay Packers and their fans cannot wait for the upcoming Week 18 showdown against the Chicago Bears, there is some tragically sad news that has come out on Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Packers, the team announced that former star center and two-time Super Bowl champion Ken Bowman has passed away at the age of 81.

At this point in time, Bowman’s cause of death has not been revealed.

Who Was Green Bay Packers’ Great Ken Bowman?
For those who don’t know anything about Bowman, he was a key piece for the Packers’ offense during the 1965 before the Super Bowl era. Following that season, he continued being a key piece for the first two Green Bay Super Bowl wins.

The Packers revealed a memory that many may have seen and know involving Bowman.

“He is perhaps best known for snapping the ball to Bart Starr and delivering a block on the Hall of Fame quarterback’s game-winning 1-yard touchdown sneak in the “Ice Bowl,” the Packers’ 21-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in a 1967 NFL championship game that had a kickoff temperature of minus-13 degrees Fahrenheit.”

Bowman played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers and continued his football career in-state with the Packers. He was drafted in the eighth round of the 1964 draft.

Throughout the course of his 123-game career in professional football, Bowman never played a snap for anyone but the Green Bay Packers. He started in 107 of his career appearances.
