Breaking: Younger brother of Georgia signee set to join Bulldogs

The Copperas Cove (Texas) offensive lineman already has one big Power 5 offer. His journey is only just beginning.

Marques Uini had a front-row seat to what recruiting looks like.

Marques Uini, younger brother of Georgia signee, prepares for his own recruiting process

The 2026 offensive lineman experienced it with his brother Michael, an early enrollee at Georgia. Uini accompanied his brother on visits to places like Georgia, Alabama, and Michigan. So he’s seen what to expect from the best-of-the-best. Now he’s excited to apply it to his own process.

“I feel like in his decisions, he really based it off his family. I feel like I’ll really look for a school that has a lot of family to it, a family environment, so I feel like I’m at home instead of at a random place,” Uini told 247Sports.

The Uini brothers are close.

On the football field, that certainly applies. For every game at Copperas Cove this season, the younger Uini lined up at left guard next to his older brother at left tackle. At 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, the sophomore lineman projects more on the interior line than his brother. Off the football field, they’ve been inseparable, too.

“We’re real close. We do everything together,” he said.

So when Uini — currently holding a Michigan offers — is asked where he’d ideally like to see himself play college football, the answer is quick and easy for him.

Georgia. I want to be with my brother,” Uini said.

What is it about the Bulldogs that caught his eye early in the process?

“The way they treated their players and recruits, they would have fun with them,” Uini said. “At some other colleges, they wouldn’t really try to interact with their players or all that. At Georgia it was a family environment. You could trust anyone that you meet there. It’s real friendly there.”

Uini’s month was different than a lot of other recruits trying to get on campus for visits. He, true to form, went out to Hawaii with the family for his brother’s Polynesian Bowl appearance. He expects to use the spring and summer to check out programs like Texas, Georgia and others that have caught his eye and hopefully get a chance to workout for a few college coaching staffs.

“I want to see UT, and then I want to go back out to Georgia,” he said.

Daijun Edwards becomes 7th Georgia player to accept Senior Bowl invite

The Bulldogs running back will get to show out in Mobile alongside several of his teammates.

Georgia running back Daijun Edwards made a habit of pushing piles forward and turning a little bit of space into a whole lot of yardage. Edwards has turned his attention to the NFL, but first, he’ll look to show what he has to offer down in Mobile.

Daijun Edwards becomes 7th Georgia player to accept Senior Bowl invite

On Thursday, Edwards accepted an invitation to next week’s Reese’s Senior Bowl. Edwards becomes the seventh Georgia player to accept an invite to the annual All-Star game, joining center Sedrick Van Pran, wide receivers Ladd McConkey and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, STAR Tykee Smith, safety Javon Bullard, and long snapper William Mote.

Edwards took valuable carries for the Bulldogs in 2022, but he took it one step forward this season. He battled injuries early in the season but rose to the challenge again and again, quickly becoming the team’s top tailback.

Edwards averaged at least 4.0 yards per carry in 10 games this season and eclipsed 100 rushing yards in two games. He found the end zone twice in a single game five times this year, including in the Orange Bowl when he took 7 carries for 62 yards and a pair of scores. He built a reputation for consistently falling forward and doing what he could to help a Georgia offense that averaged just over 191 rushing yards per game.

Edwards led Georgia with 165 carries for 880 yards. He had 13 rushing touchdowns, second on the team only to Milton.

Edwards was never much of a talker as a Bulldog, and he generally let his play on the field do all the talking. Kirby Smart alluded to as much on Dec. 30 following the Bulldogs’ blowout win over Florida State.

“He’s quiet. Kendall will tell you that. You can’t get Daijun to say nothing,” Smart said. “He’s become such a great person. He’s one semester away from graduating. So proud of who Daijun is and what he’s grown to be. Here’s a kid that wasn’t even that heavily recruited, but we took the kid because we knew he was tough as hell, he would work hard, and he had a tremendous season for us to really help us.”

In four seasons as a Bulldog, Edwards took 391 carries for 2,082 yards and 24 rushing touchdowns.

The 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl will kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Mobile’s Hancock Whitney Stadium. The game will be televised on NFL Network.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Alabama the past 74 years.

More than 900 NFL personnel — including key decision-makers from all 32 teams — and over 1,100 media members from around the country were credentialed this year. This past April, the game produced 100 total picks for the third straight year, representing 40 percent of the entire NFL draft — including 40 selected on the first two days.
