TJ Bamba and Andrew Carr drawing interest from Kentucky; Bamba cuts list to 6

We have two more names to monitor for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats.

According to Cats Illustrated’s David Sisk, Kentucky has reached out to Wake Forest center Andrew Carr.

Meanwhile, Kentucky has not only reached out to Villanova guard TJ Bamba, but they are also on his list of six schools in consideration. The Louisville Cardinals, Oregon Ducks, and Florida Gators are among the other schools in the mix.

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound Carr was an unranked class of 2020 recruit who signed with Delaware and spent two years there before transferring to Wake Forest, where he’s been the past two years.

This past season, Carr appeared in 35 games (all starts) while averaging 13.5 points on 52.6% shooting (37.1% from 3-point range on 2.8 attempts per game), 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks per outing. Per KenPom, he played primarily at the 4 spot and occasionally logged minutes at the 5.

As for Bamba, he was originally a class of 2020 Washington State signee. After three seasons with the Cougars, the New York product made his way to Villanova.

This past season, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound Bamba averaged 10.1 points on 43% shooting (36.9% from deep), 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 28.1 minutes per game. He’s a career 38% shooting from 3-point range, having connected on 144 of his 379 attempts from deep through four seasons.

According to KenPom, Bamba played just about everywhere for Villanova, logging minutes at the 1-4 spots. Most of his minutes came at the 3, but he played significant minutes running the point, so he’d be a versatile piece for Mark Pope’s first backcourt in Lexington.
