BREAKING: Miami Heat Reportedly Sign Recent Lakers Player

Cole Swider is coming off his rookie season in the NBA, where he averaged 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per contest in seven games for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Last month, the Lakers released Swider, which made him a free agent (available to sign with any team in the league).

On Sunday afternoon, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that Swider will sign a deal with the Miami Heat.

Swider initially went undrafted last summer after playing four seasons of college basketball (three for Villanova and one for Syracuse).

In addition to his time in the NBA, Swider also played for the South Bay Lakers in the G League.

He averaged a very productive 17.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest while shooting 50.6% from the field and 43.6% from the three-point range (he also appeared in four Showcase Cup games and one G League playoff game).

Considering Swider has proven to be an excellent shooter in college and the G League, he could end up being a good pickup by the Heat.

He confirmed the news by sending out a response to Charania’s tweet.

The Heat are coming off a year where they were the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference but made the NBA Finals for the second time in the previous four seasons (they lost to the Denver Nuggets in five games).
