Breaking: Manchester United closing in on a deal to potentially swap Mason Greenwood.

Manchester United intend to sell Mason Greenwood this summer, but it is not yet clear which big clubs are willing to splash out an acceptable offer for the 22-year-old forward. Getafe are the only side who have expressed an interest in siging him publiicly, but he could end up as a makeweight.

According to Sport, United and Atletico Madrid are in the intitial stages of discussing a swap deal involving Greenwood and Joao Felix. United are keen to sell Greenwood, and Los Rojiblancos do not want Felix back after another disappointing loan spell with Barcelona. Their stance on extending his loan stay is unclear. Diego Simeone has also admired Greenwood this season, on his way to picking up the Player of the Season award at Getafe.

Atletico Madrid have shown interest in Greenwood, as have the likes of Juventus according to reports in Italy, but it seems unlikely that United would benefit much from the addition of Felix, unless they feel they can finally be the ones to extract his best. Atletico have also been said to value Felix at €50-70m over the last 12 months, and if that remains the case, then United wouldn’t benefit much financially.
