There was only one story anyone in the Formula 1 world cared about on Tuesday as millions of eyes turned to a sleek and stylish building just off the A43 in south-west Northamptonshire.
Adrian Newey has long been linked with a move to Aston Martin but the switch was officially confirmed in a press conference at the team’s newly-constructed base across the road from the Silverstone Circuit. And the millions watching around the world proved just how big of a deal the move is.
It was in the second of the three new buildings that Newey, barely recognisable without his cap and red notebook, was shown off to the gathered media and representatives of sponsors. And a specially-built studio was the ideal place to do it with several TV cameras dotted around the room to broadcast the whole thing to those watching, with live streams available on Sky Sports, YouTube and even team sponsor TikTok.
