Before the Livingston game, Brendan Rodgers told a Celtic star that he would score.
Celtic performed admirably over the weekend to keep the top spot in the Scottish Premiership standings. Despite being behind by ten at Livi’s away, the Hoops triumphed and won 3-0.
In the triumph, a number of Bhoys stood out, including winger Daizen Maeda. The Japanese international was active throughout the game and scored when it mattered most.
His goal was a thing of beauty and one that manager Brendan Rodgers told him would come. Maeda said (Glasgow Times): “Even before the game on Saturday, he [Rodgers] told me I was going to score. I was very happy to repay his faith in me.”
The Irishman evidently believes in Maeda. After all, he did make the decision to reward the 25-year-old with a new contract over the summer.
So far, this course of action has shown to be fruitful. Maeda’s contributions to the team are completely unique from those of any other attacker.
His pushing skills and defensive contributions are remarkable, and his pace is unrivaled. Only five players have started every game for the Celts so far this season, and if he continues in his present pattern, that streak will continue.
