Celtic have been named as the November test opponents.
In November, a Celtic select team will face Dundee in the Scottish Premiership to commemorate Cammy Kerr’s testimonial.
Kerr has been at Dens Park for a long time, making his first-team debut in the 2023/24 season after coming through their academy system.
The Bhoys have a strong following on Tayside and the defender is delighted to be welcoming a team representing the Scottish champions for his big night.
He said [Dundee FC]: “I am absolutely delighted to get the match announced, it is something that has been in the pipeline for quite a long time. My committee have put so much time and work into arranging this match and making it happen and I am so grateful to them for this.
“To have a club the calibre of Celtic come to Dens Park for my testimonial match is an absolute honour and I couldn’t be happier.
“It would mean the absolute world to me to have the Dundee fans come out and share this moment with me. We’ve been through highs and lows together and it would be amazing if they came and celebrated my ten years at the club as they’ve always been right there beside me.”
The match takes place on Thursday, November 16th, during the final international break of 2023. It’s unlikely to be the full first team that heads to Dens – it’s far more likely to be a B team guided by Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus.
However, as we saw over the weekend at Ayr United on a similar scenario, first-team players may get a chance to play on the night. Mikey Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi, Marco Tilio, and Hyeokkyu Kwon all saw action on Sunday afternoon.
This might be another helpful encounter for Brendan Rodgers to give his players some game time, especially if long-term absentees return during the November international break training period.
